I talked to my baby sister Saturday night. She's not really a baby anymore, though, as she graduated from BYU-Idaho a week ago. We talked for about 40 minutes and had a really good conversation. When I got off the phone with her, I realized how much I miss her. She's only one of my bestest friends and I see her maybe twice a year. I'm excited about seeing her this summer at our family reunion. I remember when I had to walk her to kindergarten because she was too shy. Do you know what her major is? Public relations with a minor in drama. Who knew? I also remember her when she was Olivia's age, which confirms just how quickly time really flies. Remember when you were a kid and summer vacation felt like an eternity? And the school year was even longer? My grandpa said that time went by faster as he got older and he was soooo right.
Speaking of the Bubble Queen...She now officially has five teeth with one more about to break free. Ouch! But, it's OK. She has a doctor's appointment in May and I'll make sure she's on the right track before I think about weaning her. Any thoughts on this, Mommies? She is really becoming a little firecracker. She crawls all over the place now and eats everything from bananas and sweet potatoes to spaghetti and roast. She will often suck on the last bite of food that she has. She gets that most definitely from me. I used to suck bacon and I still suck on carrots.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more interesting in my post. I just read my brother-in-law's blog; he wrote about sniper training (he's a detective and SWAT member in Lehi). He said that he's comfortable making a no-reflex kill shot from one hundred yards away and pretty comfortable from 200 yards away, depending on the wind. How can you top an entry like that?! I'll have to wait until Olivia is old enough to turn dinner time into a war zone before I can even come close.

Hey Weird-o
you need to check out my blogosphere...and I minored in music and broadcasting, silly bean.
P.S. I miss you too :)
oh...and I'm drawing a blank on the baby jaws question
Ummm, I guess the whole sniper shot thing could be comforting, if your ever being attacked by people and he's the only one around to save you but he's still up the street, laying on a building...
Sorry about 'baby jaws' as Savanna so lovingly called her. I'd say wean her when you can....so much easier to just feed her whatever..Izzy LOVED the gerber graduates puff, they were candy so I always had snacks for her.
Anna didn't wean until I was 3 months pregnant with Joshua, and since she started getting teeth at 2 months, I didn't have much choice if I wanted to keep her off formula. Joshua got his first teeth at 3 months, so I just had to keep at it. But I wouldn't let him nurse if he bit me, he would have to be done until next time. Mean, but he learned, and that boy never went hungry.
Damon would love swat training. He is always telling me that if he had another life he would be a sniper.
Yeah, Meghan, I think I'll just have to grin and bear it. I don't want to put her on formula (it's expensive, for one) and I think she's too young to go without. She doesn't bite anymore (thank goodness) it's more of a friction thing...Don't feel mean about Joshua...I used the same tactic with Olivia. It was the only one that worked.
I love how this post began as reminiscing about childhood activities to nibbles from your daughter while breast feeding to a 200 yard reflex kill-shot by a sniper... Trust me your blog is interesting :o)lol/
Time really does fly the older I get too. Gosh, I remember hearing people say that when I was a kid and now I'M saying it! Guess that means I'm almost old...naa
When Olivia crawls does she do that thing where she puts her head down and goes really fast? Like she's trying to be more aerodynamic? Ben does that, cracks me up!
Ouch! I've been lucky that my kids don't get their teeth until they are almost a year old. A stern "No" and pulling her off each time she bites should do the trick. It's sad when they get offended, but ouch for you too!
That's so great you have a relationship like that with your sister (hi cousin!). It's harder when you live away from each other. My sister just flew over to meet me in Seattle a couple of weeks ago (it's the first time we've ever done anything like that) and it was so much fun!
As for your sweet babe--hang in there. Mine learned not to bite pretty quickly because my reaction (complete recoil in pain) sort of startled them. Good luck!
Someone told me that when they bite to pull them close where they nose and mouth are stuffed on and they can't breath. The girls always got this panicked look and that cured them. John on the other had thought that was a game. So may or may not work with "baby jaws"
I loved your thoughts on the nursery rhymns. I have heard someone make comments about how the disney movies always disreagard parental control (Mulan defied her father, Ariel defied her father, half of them didn't even have a father or a mother)
Thought that was interesting.
You might like this version I found of the Nursery Rhymes called "Mary Had a Little Jam and other silly rhumes " by Bruce Lansky. The girls love it. "Example"
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe, which wasn't too bad when the winter winds blew. But the stong summer sun was too hot to handle, so she packed up her stuff and moved to a sandal.
There is also "Take me out of the Bathtub" set to the hit "Take me out to the Ballgame"I think by the same guy that they also love.
