I hope you all had a great Mother's Day! Mother's Day has always been a little tough for me, but this year it was absolutely wonderful! We went to Magnolia after church and had a really good visit with Aubrey's family. Then, he and Olivia gave me a gift. It is perfume called Mama Magnolia and it smells divine. It's made by an Alabama company called Southerness and the label says the perfume celebrates Southerness and Motherness. Aubrey says I'm a Southern Mama now, which is why he got it for me. He scored major points for being so clever. He also scored major points for getting it at my favorite boutique...Bow Regards. I love that place!
I am so grateful to be a mom! For me, it is by far the greatest miracle that has happened in my life. Some days I'm still amazed to know that Olivia is actually here and that she's mine. I absolutely love waking up every morning to hear Olivia talking to herself in her crib, waiting for me to come get her. I love to hear her laugh at anything and everything. But mostly, I love it when she pinches my cheeks and gives me her slobbery kisses. I don't deserve her, but I'm glad I have her!
Oh, and not to ruin this nice post, but Mother's Day did come with one other surprise. When we got home, Aubrey decided to move some furniture around. If you live in the south, you know that's just another way to uncover a bug graveyard. Well, apparently there was a dead roach underneath the chair. When I came downstairs, I saw Olivia crawling away from the living room and she was chewing on something. You guessed it. It was totally gross! I felt like I should make her rinse with mouth wash or something. About five minutes later, she dropped his leg from her hand. Yuck! I am repulsed just retelling this story! If that doesn't bring you crashing back down to the reality of motherhood...

okay that was like a sneaky way to enter into something icky! OH CHEYENNE!!! I WOULD JUST FREAK OUT!! Roaches are like my biggest, biggest bug-phobia-craziness! OH POOR OLIVIA!!! YUCK YUCK!! oh goodness. lol. You really took me off guard after reading the beginning of your post. on the better note: the beginning of your post is wonderful. I love Bow Regards as well - they actually all know my name & the styles that I like - Marcus thinks it is hilarious! "Yes, my name is Courtney & I am a Shop A Holic!"
GROSS!!! Ok now that I have that out of my system. I am glad that you had such a good mother's day you southern mama.
So...umm...I'm a horibble sister. Your first Mother's Day & I didn't even call! Wait, maybe my subconscious just new that you needed to spend it with your family & just bask in the glory that is motherhood. Yeah, lets go with that one :) I'm glad it was so wonderful for you! You deserve it. I'm going to send Olivia a nighty night hypnosis baby tape for her to listen to while she's sleeping. "Aunt Desi, your first words will be Aunt Desi. Your favorite aunt will be Aunt Desi. Aunt Desi, Aunt Desi, Aunt Desi, Aunt Desi, Aunt Desi, Aunt Desi, Aunt Desi............Aunt Desi, oh yeah, and mommy"
Ha Ha :) Hope you have a wonderful week.
Love ya!
I may never be able to get that mental picture out of my head! I absolutely despise roaches! Ew.
And, Happy Late Mother's Day.
oh my gosh that's completely and utterly disgusting!
I think I would have barfed and then i would've washed her mouth out!
I also would've taken a picture and held it for later in life.
Okay, I'm not so worried about the time Sara Katherine was eating catfood out of my mom's cat's bowl, or about the time last week she threw up after eating dirt in the back yard. Yes, Cheyenne, you trumped me! GROSS! (But one of those things you will look back and laugh on for years!) Happy belated Mother's Day. I forgot it was your first one..it seems as if Olivia has been with us for so much longer.
so i was reading all the comments looking for the "been there, done that" comment. it never came. well cheyenne, i have been there done that. pulled the bug out of his mouth. oh and jeni, i've done dog food too!
pardon me while I puke!!! SO gross! I thought the blog was cute before and now I don't think I can allow my child to be around yours...she might be a bad influence! Oh and by the way you do so deserve your daughter. There are not any women I know who deserve a beautiful daughter who brings so much joy to ones life as you do. I'm so glad that you had a wonderful Mother's day you southern mamma!
Happy really late Mothers day(I think you guy's are rubbing off on me). Oh the things our children do. I can honestly say that I have been there too. First with Triston and him eating cat food, and then there's Keegan. Keegan has put worms, dirt, wood chips,(cause they look like they'd be tasty) money,(which I think is the worst, it has so many germs) and just about anything else he can find to fit into his mouth. If you really want to be grossed out ask me about what Triston used to paint his room. I'd say you better watch out cause I'm sure she'll find more.
