An update of nothing

Well, nothing's happened since my last post. I'm only writing so that you all will know that I'm still alive. Last Friday (the day of my beach post) was my birthday. I turned 28 years old. As you are all aware by now, I'm not fond of getting older. Ironically, it's not the gray hair (I've had it since high school) or the wrinkles that get me (I have Dick Clark genes courtesy of Grandma Rex). It's the thought that that much more of my life is over and I still have a ton left to do. Although sometimes that thought is rather exciting. Aubrey can't wait until we're little old people shuffling around the house. I'd rather be chasing little young people waddling around the house. Oh, well. My birthday was great. As is tradition, Aubrey got me an ice cream cake. This one came from TCBY and it was OK, though not as good as the DQ. They closed the DQ here years ago and I haven't had a decent cake since. I'm very bitter about that. He also got me a beautiful stained-glass window pane (that's the only way I know to describe it, though you could call it a giant sun catcher) made by a local artist. The design looks like it could be a dragonfly, though it is technically abstract. Downtown Northport is full of unique shops and art galleries. It's a really neat place. Anyway, the piece is purple so that it will go with my office, once I get it painted. Yes, Tracy, I'm painting one of my rooms purple! Albeit, a light lavender. The gift was quite a concession on Aubrey's part!

Besides that, nothing spectacular has happened, although Olivia did stand by herself without support yesterday. In ag-related news, parts of our garden are really having a rough go of it. We're not sure if our beans will make it...we think the dogs ate them...and one of our squash plants shriveled up. I think we'll do well with potatoes (we've already harvested about 20) and hopefully corn. We've been able to have some squash already, so that's good. Olivia could eat her weight in squash. Also my blueberries are HUGE this year. I'm so excited about them. I hope to get at least 8 gallons this year.

Well, like I said, not much has happened. I know I haven't posted anything about the reunion yet, but I'll get around to it. I don't have time right now to download photos from the camera and then post everything on the blog. But don't lose faith! It's coming!

Happy Birthday! Here is my present to you, I have a solution to your aging problem, just don't. I honestly can't remember how old I am sometimes, so I make it up. This has much to do with people vocalizing that I was way too young when I had Anna and I asked them how old they thought I was. When the response came as 4 years younger than I actually am, I decided to hold on to that with all my might. BTW, I am turning 28 in July and I know if I can get away with being 24, so can you.

I freak out everytime I think about my age but then I remember you will always be 1 year, 11 months & 11 days older than me and I feel better. I love you for that!

EXCEPT when I remember that in 1 year 11 months & 11 days I will be 28! I don't love you for that :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I really should remember that your birthday is on the anniversary of my baptism! SO PROUD of you for having a purple room! Everyone should. Nice the Aubrey took some time to go play downtown to get you a fun different gift.
Congrats on Olivia standing...your life is almost over...soon she'll be running around the house saying "I got you!" everytime she finds you. OH and as far as the retail therapy goes you shouldn't make too much fun of it...as I recall that's how you found your fabulous friend in me because I would take you to the mall every weekend...and most other days too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I love the Rex genes. Everyone thinks I am like 19 (If they see me without my kids) and I am 26! I used to hate it so much, but now I am starting to like it. The ice cream cakes sounds good. Maybe I should get one for Tim's b-day coming up. I love, love, love crook neck squash. I cook it the fattening way with butter and onions and sometimes a little cheese, getting them nice and golden brown.

I have always wanted a little garden, but our yard is so small and my thumb so...deadly.

PS - Just wait until you're 31. At least you won't be 31 and have no children. LOL

People look at me like I eat kids for dinner.

:-P

Happy Birthday!!
I agree with Meghan. I have never felt my age, much less does anyone ever guess correctly. They always peg me as younger, I love still getting carded EVERYWHERE (movie theaters even - I do look 17 though - whatever) Anyway, I just feel young. That is my age. Young. No need for specific numbers, it is how I feel & how I live.
I love the reference to Tracy & the purple room... lol

Well, for an update about nothing it sure was something.

Daven just had his birthday on Saturday...he turned 25. That's how old you were when Daven and I were married :) I would remind you that I turn 23 in July, but I don't want to make you feel any older than you actually are ;)

Happy Birthday! I'm right there behind you. At least it's not 30 yet, right? I finally broke down at bought some anti-aging stuff because even though I know I look the same to myself, I also realize that I'm probably aging before my eyes without seeing it!

Hey now, there is nothing "old" about 30...or 31! People still think I'm 25 or younger, so...it's all in your head and on your skin.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Don' forget your neck and hands!
