Olivia's been in a forward-facing carseat since September. The catch is that you need to be at least 20 pounds...she was only 17 pounds. I know all you moms are going to hate on me for doing that, but in my defense, we were going on a long road trip and thought that it would be better traveling for her, and we were right. We also thought that it would be no time at all until she reached that 20-lb. mark. This is where we were horribly wrong.
Today was Olivia's 15-month check-up and she weighs a whopping 18 lbs. and 1 oz. That means that she won't technically be ready for the forward-facing carseat until, geez, February. It also means that large gusts of wind can topple her like a two-year-old Godzilla topples a tower of Legos. And it means that Sparky can knock her down with a quick flit of his tail. That several of her 12-month pants wind up around her ankles after a few laps around the living room (guess she didn't get my caboose). And it means that I can still hold her and do the dishes at the same time (although certainly not in record time!) It also means that after all that agony of deciding whether or not to give her a middle name, I was right to do so. Could there possibly be a better name for this tiny little imp than Tynni?

I don't think Bliss was quite 20lbs at a year either. He caught up shortly after. He still has a hard time keeping his pants up. Zade, on the other hand, is different. But they always fall in normal percentiles for their age...so no worries.
Olivia is just too cute. I can't believe how big she is! So grown up!
We had a class at work where we were told by a state trooper that he had never seen any broken legs after wrecks when kids were rear facing, but he had seen lots of broken necks because they were turned around too early.
Sorry.Had to be one of those nutty mom's you were talking about.
I had forgotten about her middle name! I figured that she wouldn't be big enough yet. Love the picture of the bike, Izzy still can't hardly reach her peddles either!
By the way, yes you will see me this weekend.. if y'all clear your schedules We have reservations at the Barr Bed and Breakfast.
Hey, remember back in the day, when people didn't even USE car seats?
Yeah...that was fun :-)
I feel sorry for kids who don't meet weight requirements for seating in cars. I mean, according to the new "weight/height" charts, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been allowed in the front seat before I was 15 years old!
Olivia is getting so cute. Wished we lived closer for the two of them to play.
Did I ever tell you that Tynni is daylyn's grandmother's name?

Donna: You didn't disappoint! I knew you'd have a statistic or something about that. I definitely plan on doing it differently with Baby #2.
Rachael: My mom used to breastfeed and drive a clutch at the same time. And we used to sit up in the window of our old blue Cadillac. Good times.
Sara: I do remember Bliss vs. The Car Seat, but he still seemed so much bigger to me than Olivia. I need another baby so she'll "grow up".
teeny or not, she looks like she can carry her own on that bike..awesome!
That's a great picture--she's so cute!
so tiny and still so adorable
so tiny and still so adorable
Don't feel to bad...Dawson just turned three and he's just now getting to 30 pounds. He can still wear his 6-9 month swim shorts. It's the only size that will stay on his little waist! Olivia is so beautiful!
She's just a slip of a thing, but she freaking tall! At least that's what it looks like in the picture. So, Thanksgiving...I know, and I am the biggest critic of the over-commercialization of Halloween and Christmas, ultimately leaving the turkeys in the dust. BUT, I just couldn't wait. It's like Christmas was tickling my insides and it wouldn't stop until I let it out, but apparently there were two Christmases in me because I still have that tickling feeling.
Wow. Josh is a chunk compared to her! He was about 22lb and something at his 12 month. So he was totally ready for his big boy seat!
